Carol Hassen is a painter, writer, and educator Living in Ellensburg. She has received many artistic and professional awards, has published educational materials and books, and is involved in the arts on all levels. In 2001 Carol was awarded the prestigious Governor’s Arts Award for the State of Washington. Her education includes a BFA from Oregon State University, and a MFA from Central Washington University. Before retiring, she was the Director of the Larson Gallery for seventeen years and Gallery One Visual Arts Center for four years.
Carol’s paintings are an emotional response to memory, travel, and feelings of a place in time. She keeps exploring ways of freeing the form through color and texture and hopes her paintings will trigger an emotional response in viewers independent of her memories.
