Penn O. Shelton is a full-time artist living in Yakima with her husband, one indoor cat as well as one stray cat. After graduating high school in 1963, she attended Western Washington College of Education for three years before moving to Yakima and completing a certificate in graphic design at Perry Technical Institute.  She then opened a studio on 7th Ave as a commercial artist.  Penn spent fifteen years building her clientele and employing artists from around the region.

 

At forty-two she sold it all following a midlife crisis and became a full-time artist. Penn has worked with a variety of mediums and subjects and shown and won awards throughout the Yakima and surrounding area.  She is currently working on some large commissions and getting ready for another great year at June Art Fest.
